Community Guidelines, Terms & Conditions
Everything we wished existed for our own pets, we built at PawFred.
1. Community guidelines (the heart of PawFred)
1.1. Why PawFred exists
We are pet families ourselves. We tried GPS collars, trackers, tags, spreadsheets, notes, and dozens of apps. They all did something, but none of them gave us:
Local safety alerts;
A true lost & found system;
Certified, insured providers;
One place for health, care, and neighborhood support.
So we built PawFred: a Tag + App system that focuses on what really matters: keeping pets safer, healthier, and better cared for, together with your community.
1.2. How the PawFred system works (Tag + App)
Every active PawFred membership includes:
A PawFred NFC Tag (battery-free, universally readable);
The PawFred app, exclusively for residents of Partner Properties;
Safety Hub: SOS, local alerts, lost & found, emergency contacts;
Health Hub: vaccine reminders, vet visits and wellness tracking;
Care Hub: access to certified, insured local providers (walkers, sitters, groomers, trainers, vets, pet-friendly drivers, daycare & boarding);
Turbo Pup Deals: time-limited offers from trusted vendors;
One complimentary replacement tag after 12 months of active membership (terms apply).
We don’t aim to replace tools like AirTags or GPS collars.
We simply built what they don’t provide: community alerts, local support, curated care, and incident reporting.
1.3. Our view on AirTags, GPS collars & health trackers
We respect that some families choose AirTags, GPS collars, or health trackers. Many of us use them too.
They’re great for knowing where your pet is. PawFred is built to help with what’s happening around your pet:
Is there an aggressive dog frequently off-leash nearby?
Has there been a recent incident in the dog park?
Who can help if your pet is found by a stranger?
Which providers are actually vetted, insured, and tracked?
So we see PawFred as the missing layer: community alerts + certified care + emergency support, not another device to charge.
1.4. Safety is our north star
PawFred was born from real scares, including when Panda, one of our own dogs, was attacked by two unleashed pit bulls at a “normal” dog park. That’s why we treat safety like a promise:
When you use PawFred, you agree to:
Only trigger SOS when you genuinely need help;
Only report incidents and safety concerns that are true and accurate;
Keep your pet’s profile up to date (contacts and conditions);
Use respectful, factual language in reports and communications.
We commit to taking every SOS and safety report seriously.
We will not save resources if a community pet is at risk. We act as if that pet is ours.
Because of this, we ask you never to use SOS or alerts lightly for anything untrue. Misuse can result in warnings or, in serious cases, removal from PawFred and legal action.
1.5. Turbo Pup Deals and Certified Providers
PawFred partners with certified, insured providers and curated vendors to bring you local offers through Turbo Pup Deals.
We screen and certify providers based on quality, insurance, and reliability;
We require providers to carry mandatory insurance consistent with local law and our internal minimums (e.g., general liability and animal bailee coverage for services involving custody of pets);
We track performance via ratings, SLAs, and feedback.
However:
Providers and vendors are independent businesses, not employees or agents of PawFred;
When you book or buy through PawFred, you are entering into a direct relationship with the provider/vendor;
PawFred facilitates the connection, supports quality, and manages the tech, but does not perform the service or sell the product directly (except where explicitly indicated).
We give our ultimate best to ensure they are the best at what they do. But, as with any marketplace, there is always some risk. We take your feedback seriously and can suspend or remove providers who do not meet our standards.
2. User terms and conditions (the rules)
By using PawFred, the PawFred tag, or related services, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions.
Additional Terms.
If you are a Partner Property or a Certified Provider, additional terms apply to your role. These documents form part of the PawFred legal framework:
Partner Properties Guidelines, Terms & Conditions
Provider Guidelines, Terms & Conditions
2.1. Eligibility and Partner Properties
PawFred is available only to residents of Partner Properties that have an agreement with PawFred Inc.;
Your access may be confirmed and validated with your property manager;
If you move out of a Partner Property, your access and/or billing structure may change or terminate.
2.2. Accounts, tags & profiles
You must create a personal PawFred account and a profile for each pet;
Each pet is assigned a PawFred NFC Tag; tags are linked to your account and must not be misused, resold, or falsely assigned;
You are responsible for keeping your contact details, pet data, and emergency info accurate and up to date;
Lost/damaged tags may be replaced under PawFred’s replacement policy (e.g., one complimentary tag after 12 months of active membership; additional tags may have a replacement fee).
2.3. Subscriptions, payments and cancellations
Subscription and billing
PawFred may be billed either:
via your property manager as an amenity fee alongside rent/association dues, or
directly by PawFred, if/when direct billing is implemented in your building.
You will be clearly informed which model applies to your property.
Pricing and plan structure
Pricing may differ by property and by pet type (e.g., dog vs cat);
Plans may offer monthly and/or annual options, free trials (e.g., 30 days), and multi-pet discounts;
We may adjust pricing from time to time; current pricing will always be disclosed before renewal or sign-up.
Cancellations
If your plan is billed via the property, cancellation may require contacting the property manager or following their amenity rules;
If billed directly by PawFred, you may cancel via the app or support channels;
Unless required by local law, cancellations generally take effect at the end of the current billing period, and fees already paid are not refunded.
2.4. Purchases of products and services
Marketplace services and products
When you book a walker, sitter, groomer, trainer, driver, daycare, vet, or purchase products via PawFred, you are buying directly from that provider/vendor.
PawFred acts as a technology platform and facilitator, not as the seller or service performer (except where explicitly indicated).
Prices, availability, quality, and specific terms (including cancellations and rescheduling) may be governed by provider/vendor SLAs and local regulations.
Payment processing
Payments may be processed through integrated systems (e.g., Stripe) and/or via charges routed through your property (similar to hotel or building charges);
You authorize PawFred or your property manager (as applicable) to charge your selected payment method, rent ledger, or amenity account for such purchases.
2.5. Turbo Pup Deals
Turbo Pup Deals are time-limited offers from partners, surfaced through the app;
All deals are subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee stock, specific dates, or continuity of any offer;
PawFred does not guarantee the outcome of any product or service purchased through a deal; we curate and highlight our best partners, but the transaction remains between you and the provider/vendor.
2.6. Independent providers and liability
All service providers and vendors accessible via PawFred are independent businesses;
They are not employees, agents, or representatives of PawFred;
PawFred requires providers to carry mandatory insurance consistent with local laws and our internal standards (e.g., general liability and animal bailee coverage where applicable), but we do not manage their policies, nor do we guarantee coverage outcomes.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
PawFred is not liable for the acts, omissions, services, products, or negligence of any third-party provider or vendor;
Your use of their services is at your discretion and risk, though we do everything we can to curate and oversee quality.
2.7. Responsible use of SOS and reporting
You agree to:
Use the SOS feature only when you genuinely need emergency support;
Provide truthful, accurate information in all incident reports and safety alerts;
Never use PawFred to harass, defame, or unfairly target another resident, pet, or provider.
PawFred may suspend or close accounts that abuse SOS, submit knowingly false reports, or undermine community trust, as well as take legal action.
2.8. Privacy and data use
PawFred collects and uses data (such as contact information, pet data, location events associated with scans, service history, etc.) to:
provide and improve the service
support safety features
power local alerts and analytics
enhance your experience and recommendations
Our full data practices are described in our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated by reference into these Terms.
By using PawFred, you agree to the collection, use, and sharing of information as described in that Privacy Policy.
2.9. Changes to PawFred
We may add, modify, or discontinue features (including hubs, deals, providers, and integrations) to improve PawFred over time.
We may update these Terms to reflect changes in law, technology, or product. Updated Terms will be posted and, where required, notified to you.
2.10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability (plain language)
PawFred does its best to keep the platform available, accurate, and safe, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted operation or error-free performance at all times.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PawFred is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from:
use of the app, tag, or services
the acts/omissions of providers or vendors
inaccurate or incomplete user information
network or technology failures
This is standard for digital platforms, but we still hold ourselves to a higher moral standard: if something goes wrong, we will do what we can to support you and your pet.
2.11. Miscellaneous
We keep this part short and human. It’s here to make sure everyone knows how things work behind the scenes.
2.11.1. How our relationship works
When you use PawFred, you’re using a service we provide to help keep your community safer and more pet-friendly. You’re not entering into any partnership or employment relationship with PawFred, just a regular service agreement.
2.11.2. What rules apply
These Community Guidelines, along with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, make up the full set of rules for using PawFred. They replace any older explanations or emails that may have said something different.
2.11.3. Florida law applies
Because PawFred launches and operates in Florida, the laws of the State of Florida apply to anything related to your use of the app or services.
2.11.4. Where issues are resolved
If a legal issue ever comes up (which we hope never happens), it will be handled in Miami-Dade County, Florida, in either state or federal court. You agree to use those courts and not courts somewhere else.
2.11.5. No class actions
If you ever have a dispute with us, it must be handled one person at a time. No class actions or group lawsuits.
2.11.6. Changes to these guidelines
We improve PawFred all the time. When we update our rules or features, we may update these guidelines too. If something important changes, we’ll let you know through the app or by email.
2.11.7. If part of these rules doesn’t work
If a court ever says that one part of these rules isn’t valid, only that part will be removed. Everything else will stay in place.
2.11.8. We don’t waive our rights
If we don’t enforce a rule right away, it doesn’t mean we’re giving up that right. We can still choose to enforce it later.
2.11.9. Things outside our control
Sometimes things happen that no company can control (storms, outages, emergencies, etc). In those cases, PawFred may not be able to offer the app or services normally.
2.11.10. How we communicate with you
We’ll contact you through the app, email, or occasionally through your property manager. If you ever need to reach us for something important, here’s how:
